The Society for Psychological Anthropology Names Its Next Leader

Korbin_JillJill E. Korbin, the Lucy Adams Leffingwell Professor in the department of anthropology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, was named president-elect of the Society for Psychological Anthropology. The society, founded in 1977, represents scholars who are interested in cultural, psychological, and social interrelations at all levels. Professor Korbin will serve for two years as president-elect and then will become president of the society in 2017. She will serve as president for two years.

At Case Western Reserve University, Professor Korbin also serves as director of the Schubert Center for Child Studies and as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. She joined the faculty at the university in 1981 and was promoted to full professor in 1994. Professor Korbin is the co-editor of the Handbook of Child Maltreatment: Contemporary Issues in Research and Policy (Springer, 2013).

Dr. Korbin holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in anthropology, all from the University of California, Los Angeles.
