The University of Cincinnati has announced a new gender-neutral parental leave program for faculty members that will begin on June 1. Under the new program, faculty can receive up to six weeks of paid parental leave that applies to new babies or adopted children up to the age of seven. Faculty members are relieved of all academic duties for six weeks and for all teaching duties during the semester in which the leave occurs. Faculty members can take the six-week paid leave at any time during the first six months after the birth or adoption of a child.
Matt Serra, vice provost for academic personnel at the University of Cincinnati, stated that “this new, family-friendly policy demonstrates our commitment to the well-being of our faculty’s families and our dedication to remaining competitive for the world’s top academic talent.”
