The College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio has seven new tenure-track faculty members this fall. Three of the new hires are women.
Kristi Bartlett is an assistant professor in the department of engineering and computing education. Her research focuses on design education, computer-aided design, spatial skills, interdisciplinary design teams, and design in healthcare. Dr. Barlett is a graduate of Rice University in Houston, where she majored in civil and environmental engineering. She holds a master’s degree in industrial design from the University of Houston and a Ph.D. in technology from Purdue University in Indiana.
Kamia Smith is an assistant professor in the department of mechanical, materials, and industrial engineering. She specializes in high-temperature creep deformation, Harper-Dorn creep, dislocation theory, and mechanical behavior of single- and poly-crystalline materials. Dr. Smith is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norwood, Massachusetts, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Guannan Zhang is an assistant professor in the department of biomedical engineering. Dr. Zhang is interested in MRI method development, molecular imaging, biomedical applications in cancer metabolism, and metabolic disorders. A graduate of Tianjin University in China, where she majored in applied chemistry, Dr. Zhang earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Texas A&M University. She conducted postdoctoral research at Duke University in North Carolina.
