In May 2014, the United States Department of Education published a list of 55 colleges and universities that were under investigation for possible violations of Title IX regarding sexual assault and/or harassment complaints. In July, another 12 cases were identified that had been added to the list since May 1. Since then the list has grown to 94 colleges and universities that are currently under investigation for Title IX violations.
Among the latest additions to the list is Barnard College, a liberal arts college for women affiliated with Columbia University in New York City. The investigation was launched on December 29, 2014. Barnard issued a statement saying that it is reviewing the complaint filed with the Office for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education and a response would be forthcoming.

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
