Carol Moore to Lead Burlington College in Vermont

Carol_MooreThe board of trustees of Burlington College in Vermont has named Carol Moore as interim president. She is the former president of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. Before taking the reins of leadership at Lyndon State College in 1998, she was provost and vice president of academic affairs at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

In September, Christine Plunkett resigned as president of the college. Michael Smith, former deputy state treasurer, secretary of administration, and secretary of human services for the state of Vermont has been serving as interim president since Plunkett’s resignation. Plunkett, who had been president since 2012, had come under criticism after Burlington College was placed on accreditation probation by the New England Association of Colleges and Schools.

“Our task now is to rekindle the ‘fire’ for Burlington College,” Dr. Moore stated in accepting the appointment.
