Nine Women Appointed to New Faculty Positions

124914_mciver022Beverly McIver will join the faculty at Duke University for the spring 2015 semester as the Ebenshade Professor of the Practice in Studio Arts. She is currently an artist-in-residence at the McColl Center for the Visual Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina. Professor McIver previously taught at Arizona State University for 12 years and then at North Carolina Central University in Durham.

Professor McIver is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and holds a master of fine arts degree from Pennsylvania State University.

stacy-reischman-fletcherStacy Reischman Fletcher was named acting director of the School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi. She joined the faculty at the university in 2000. She is chair of the department of dance.

Professor Reischman Fletcher is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz. She holds a master of fine arts degree in dance from Ohio State University.

popescuCodrina Popescu was appointed associate professor of chemistry at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. She was an associate professor of chemistry at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Popescu is a graduate of the University of Bucharest in Romania. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

jungeunleeJung Eun Lee was named an assistant professor in the department of apparel, housing, and resource management in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. She is teaching courses on fashion presentation and fashion analysis.

Dr. Lee is a graduate of Hanyang University in South Korea. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.

claire-maxClaire Max, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is taking on the additional responsibility as interim director of the University of California Observatories. She has served on the university’s faculty since 1999.

Professor Max is a graduate of Harvard University. She earned a Ph.D. in astrophysical sciences and plasma physics from Princeton University.

GrandisJennifer R. Grandis was appointed professor of otolaryngology at the University of California, San Francisco. She will also serve as associate vice chancellor of clinical and translational research at the university. She will begin her new roles in January. Currently, Dr. Grandis holds the UPMC Endowed Chair in Head and Neck Cancer Surgical Research at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Grandis is a graduate of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh.

weberEllen Weber was named assistant professor of strategic management and director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute at Temple University in Philadelphia. She is also the executive director of Robin Hood Ventures, a firm that helps start-up companies with funding.

Weber is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in economics.

Theresa JohnsonTheresa A Johnson was named chair of the department of physician assistant studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. Previously she worked for the Veterans Administration in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and taught at Methodist University.

Johnson is a graduate of the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She holds a master’s degree in health services administration from Barry University in Miami and is currently working on a doctorate in public health at Walden University.

schneiderSusan Schneider was appointed the William H. Enfield Professor of Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law. She is the director of the law school’s master’s degree program in agricultural and food law.

Professor Schneider is a graduate of the St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Arkansas and a juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
