
Professor Harrington Meyer is being honored for her book Grandmothers at Work: Juggling Families and Jobs (New York University Press, 2014). The book explores the stresses faced by working grandmothers who also have to provide care for their grandchildren.
Professor Harrington Meyer taught at the University of Illinois for six years before joining the faculty at Syracuse University in 1997. She was promoted to full professor in 2005. A graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, Professor Harrington Meyer earned a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in sociology from Florida State University.
