Mattie White has been named assistant vice president of campus life and the Clyde Partin Sr. Director of Athletics and Recreation at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. White comes to her new role from the University of Delaware, where she served as deputy athletic director and senior woman administrator. Earlier in her career, she held a variety of athletics leadership roles with Indiana University and Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Dr. White received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and her master’s degree in education from Ohio University. She earned master’s degrees in athletic administration and counselor education and a Ph.D. in health behavior from Indiana University.
Kristin Nines is assistant dean of partnerships, planning, and administration for the College of Business at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nines first joined the college in 2013 as director of academic business affairs. Prior to joining Marquette, she spent more than a decade supporting the department of biophysics and the Center for Imaging Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Nines received her bachelor’s degree in atmospheric and oceanic sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Julie Breen has been appointed assistant provost and director of Instructional Design, Engagement, and Support (IDEAS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As an instructional design leader and technical writer, Breen specializes in measurable, engaging learning solutions. She previously served as director of the Office of Innovative Technology and Learning Design in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati.
A graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Breen holds a master’s degree in professional writing and editing from the University of Cincinnati.
Enku Gelaye was appointed senior vice provost for student experience strategy at the University of Pittsburgh. For the past five years, Gelaye has served as the senior vice president and dean of campus life at Emory University in Atlanta. Before that, she spent two years as vice president. Before joining Emory, Gelaye was vice chancellor of student affairs and campus life at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Gelaye holds a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from the University of Tennessee and a law degree from the University of Georgia.
MarQuita L. Danzy is director of alumni relations at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Danzy previously served as the university’s director of campus amenities and internal events. Throughout her career, she has gained more than 26 years of administrative and leadership experience spanning international ministry, community services, and organizational development.
Danzy is an alumna of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in social relations with a minor in vocal music. She holds a master’s degree in administration of justice from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.
Nicky Gilbertson is associate vice president for executive operations at the University of South Dakota. Gilbertson has an extensive background in healthcare leadership. In her new role, she will advance campus-wide strategic alignment and institutional effectiveness by coordinating enterprise‑level initiatives, integrating academic and administrative priorities, and supporting collaborative decision‑making across the university.
A graduate of Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Gilbertson holds a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota.
Brandi Wells-Stone has been named executive director for student support in the division of student affairs at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Wells-Stone has been with the university for the past 11 years, most recently serving as director of African American student services and special advisor to the president on African American affairs. In addition to her administrative work, Dr. Wells-Stone conducts research on Black Cultural Center leadership and the ways institutional structures and campus environments influence belonging in higher education.
Dr. Wells-Stone received her bachelor’s degree in political science and her master of public administration degree from the University of New Mexico. She holds a doctorate in higher education leadership and administration from New Mexico State University.
Brook McArdle was promoted to deputy chief of staff at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout her tenure with the university, McArdle has assisted in operations for both Mount Mary University’s Office of the President and the board of trustees.
McArdle holds a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee and a master’s degree from New York University.
