Mary McLean Evans, a longtime fundraising administrator with Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, passed away on May 15 following a long battle with cancer. She was 65 years old.
Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Evans was a member of Hamilton College’s first fully co-ed class. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she immediately began her career with Hamilton’s Office of Communications and Development. She held multiple roles at the college over her lifetime, including director of the annual fund, major gifts officer, and assistant vice president and executive director of the Maurice Horowitch Career Center.
Evans briefly left Hamilton College to serve as managing director of the Committee of 200 and vice president of presidential initiatives at the American University of Paris. She returned to Hamilton in 2022 to help lead the college’s “Because Hamilton” capital campaign.
