Susan Ballabina Is the Sole Finalist for the Presidency of Texas A&M University

The board of regents of the Texas A&M University System has unanimously selected Susan Ballabina as the sole finalist for president of Texas A&M University. The appointment is subject to the state’s required 21-day waiting period before final action by the board.

At the flagship campus in College Station, Texas A&M University enrolls nearly 61,000 undergraduates and over 17,000 graduate students, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women represent 47 percent of the university’s undergraduate student body.

Dr. Ballabina, who currently serves as the Texas A&M system’s executive vice chancellor, has over three decades of experience with the system and the university. Her prior leadership roles include chief of staff to the president, senior vice president for academic and strategic collaborations, and deputy vice chancellor and chief operating officer for Texas A&M AgriLife.

“Having worked alongside so many dedicated members of this university for the past 30 years, I’ve seen firsthand the remarkable impact Texas A&M has on students, communities and our state,” said Dr. Ballabina. “I am honored by the trust and confidence of the Board of Regents and [system Chancellor Glenn Hegar] and if given the opportunity, I look forward to building on the incredible work already underway and leading Texas A&M into its next chapter.”

A three-time graduate of Texan universities, Dr. Ballabina holds a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, and a doctorate in public affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas.
