Christy Harris Lemak was appointed chair of the department of health services administration at the University of Alabama Birmingham. When she takes the position in July she will oversee seven degree programs. Currently, Dr. Lemak is director of the Griffith Leadership Center in Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan. She is also the chief academic officer of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership in Chicago.
Dr. Lemak is a graduate of the University of Illinois. She holds a master’s degree in health administration and an MBA from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in health services organization and policy from the University of Michigan.
Karen Elliott House was named a 2014 William E. Simon Distinguished Visiting Professor at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. House is an adjunct senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. A former publisher of The Wall Street Journal, House is the author of On Saudi Arabia: Its People, Past, Religion, Fault Lines – And Future (Alfred A. Knopf, 2012).
House will spend the spring semester teaching a course at Pepperdine entitled, “Region Specific Studies: Saudi Arabia.” At the close of the semester, she will receive an honorary degree.
Robin Hopkins and Elizabeth Wolkovich are new assistant professors in the department of organismic and evolutionary biology at Harvard University. They will hold joint appointments and conduct research at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.
Dr. Hopkins is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and holds a Ph.D. in biology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Wolkovich is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts and holds a Ph.D. in biology from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
