The Next Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Amherst College

On July 1, Katharine Fretwell will become the dean of admission and financial aid at Amherst College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Massachusetts. Dr. Fretwell has served in the admissions office at Amherst College for nearly a quarter century. She has been dean of admission since 2012.

Dr. Fretwell is a 1981 graduate of Amherst College, where she majored in English and dramatic arts and played on the college’s soccer and lacrosse teams. She earned an educational doctorate at Harvard University. Before joining the admissions staff at Amherst College, Dr. Fretwell was an assistant director of admission at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
