Carnegie Mellon University Holds Summer Program in STEM for High School Girls

see-graphicCarnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is offering a free two-week program for girls from area high schools in an effort to interest them in careers in science, engineering and technology. The Summer Engineering Experience for Girls (SEE) is funded by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technical Alliance and the university’s Institute for Complex Engineered Systems (ICES).

Alicia Angemeer, external relation and outreach coordinator at ICES stated, “The program is offered for free in order to provide opportunities for girls who love science, technology, engineering, and math regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. There is also a mentoring component provided as Carnegie Mellon University women engineering faculty and students offer themselves as models and encourage girls to continue pursuing STEM throughout their education and their careers.”
