Maria R. Estorino, an associate professor at the University of Miami Libraries, was named Esperanza Bravo de Varona Chair of the Cuban Heritage Collection at the library. Estorino has been on the staff of the University of Miami Libraries since 2001. She previously, worked for the Northeastern University Libraries.
Professor Estorino is a graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans. She holds a master’s degree in history from Northeastern University and a master of library science degree from Simmons College in Boston.
Lisa Bowens was named an instructor in New Testament studies at the Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. She is expected to earn a Ph.D. at the seminary this fall. Her dissertation is entitled “Engaging in Battle: Examining Paul’s Cosmology, Epistemology, and Anthropology in the Context of Spiritual Warfare in Corinthians 12: 1-10.”
Bowens holds a master of theology degree and a master’s degree in theological studies from Duke Divinity School.
Claudia Emerson was named professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Since 1994, she been a professor at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 2006, Professor Emerson was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in poetry for her collection, Late Wife: Poems (Louisiana State University Press, 2006). She has served as poet laureate of Virginia.
Professor Emerson is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Azadeh F. Osanloo was named to the Stan Fulton Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools at the New Mexico State University College of Education. Professor Osanloo joined the university’s faculty in 2006.
Dr. Osanloo is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She earned a master of public administration degree from New York University and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies at Arizona State University.
