Six Women Appointed to Positions as Dean

Cheryl Hawk, DC, PhD_editCheryl Hawk was named dean of research at the Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. Since 2010, she has been serving as director of clinical research at the college. Previously, she was vice president of research and scholarship at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Overland Park, Kansas.

Dr. Hawk earned her doctor of chiropractic degree at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. She holds a Ph.D. in preventive medicine from the University of Iowa.

shealeyMonika Shealey was appointed dean of the College of Education at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. She has been serving as associate dean for teacher education at the School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has held that post since 2010.

Dr. Shealey holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She earned her doctorate at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Oseguera-200Tonantzin Oseguera was named dean of students at California State University, Fullerton. She has been serving as assistant dean of students at the University of California-Riverside. She is the former director of student activities and leadership programs at Portland State University.

Dr. Oseguera holds a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from the University of Vermont and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Southern California.

Rhonda PhillipsRhonda Phillips was named dean of the new Honors College at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She has been serving as dean of the Honors College at Arizona State University. Previously, she served on the faculty at the University of Florida and the University of Southern Mississippi.

Dr. Phillips holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Fahrenwald, NancyNancy Fahrenwald was promoted to dean of the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University. Since 2009, she has been associate dean for research at the nursing school. She joined the faculty at the nursing school in 1995 after serving in the Peace Corps in Malawi.

Dr. Fahrenwald is a graduate of South Dakota State University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Portland in Oregon and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Nebraska.

Rebecca_ReedKantrowitzRebecca Reed Kantrowitz was appointed interim dean of student affairs and senior vice president at Syracuse University. She has been serving as associate vice president for inclusion, community, and citizenship for the university’s Division of Student Affairs.

Kantrowitz is a graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree from Niagara University in New York and is working toward an educational doctorate at Syracuse University.
