Mary McAleese, the former president of Ireland, will serve as the Burns Library Visiting Scholar in Irish Studies at Boston College during the fall 2013 semester. McAleese will teach, present public lectures, and conduct research in the Burns Library Irish Book and Manuscript Collection. McAleese is currently working on a doctoral degree at Gregorian University in Rome.
McAleese was elected president of Ireland in 1997 and won a second term in 2004. She holds a law degree from Queen’s University of Belfast.
Jennifer R. Joe, was appointed to the Whitney Family Endowed Chair in Accounting and professor in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware. Her appointment is effective on August 1. Currently, she is an associate professor at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. She previously taught at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
Dr. Joe is a magna cum laude graduate of Baruch College, part of the City University of New York system. She holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Pittsburgh.
