Niki Fogg, associate professor and assistant dean for simulation education and technology in the College of Nursing at Texas Woman’s University, has received the 2026 Spirit of Simulation Leadership Excellence Award from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate transformational leadership by advancing healthcare simulation while fostering growth and success of others in the profession.
At TWU, Dr. Fogg has led multicampus simulation strategy, expanding interprofessional learning opportunities and developing the simulation and clinical skills integration labs in the university’s new Health Sciences Center in Denton, Texas. Through simulation training, nursing students can experience high-stakes patient scenarios, strengthen their confidence, and refine their clinical judgement in an environment designed for learning.
“Done well, simulation doesn’t just teach skills. It shapes safer, more thoughtful clinicians,” said Dr. Fogg. “When it’s interprofessional, it prepares them to work as part of the collaborative healthcare teams patients depend on.”
Dr. Fogg holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, a master’s degree in nursing education from Texas Woman’s University, and a Ph.D. in health professions from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
