Denise Whisenhunt has been selected as the next president of Fresno City College in California. Upon official approval by the community college’s board of trustees, she will begin her presidency in July.
According to the most recent federal data, Fresno City College enrolls over 25,000 students, 54 percent of whom are women.
With more than two decades of experience in education, Whisenhunt has an extensive background leading community colleges in California. Since 2021, she has served as president of Grossmont College. Earlier, she held key leadership roles in student affairs at San Diego City College and San Diego Mesa College.
Whisenhunt received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, San Diego and her juris doctorate from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
