Audie Klotz Elected President of the International Studies Association

Audie Klotz, professor of political science at Syracuse University, has been elected president of the International Studies Association. She will serve a three-year term, beginning as president-elect.

A Syracuse faculty member for over two decades, Dr. Klotz also serves as a research affiliate with Syracuse’s Maxwell African Scholars Union. Her current research focuses on international norms, transnational social movements, migration, and South African foreign policy. She is the author of several books, including her most recent monograph, Migration and National Identity in South Africa, 1860-2010 (Cambridge University Press, 2013). Her next book, Norms in International Relations: The Struggle Against Apartheid, is set for publication by Cornell University Press later this year.

Dr. Klotz has been a dedicated member of the International Studies Association for several years, including service as vice president from 2016-2018. The association has previously presented her with several awards, including two Distinguished Scholar Awards from the International Organization section and the Ethnicity, Nationality, and Migration section, respectively.

Dr. Klotz received her bachelor’s degree in government and economics from Oberlin College in Ohio. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in government from Cornell University.
