Farzana Hoque Named “Unsung Hero” by Society of Hospital Medicine

The Society of Hospital Medicine has presented its 2024 Unsung Hero award to Farzana Hoque, president of the organization’s Saint Louis, Missouri, chapter and associate professor of internal medicine at Saint Louis University. The annual award is presented to a chapter president for their positive contributions to the organization and support of other chapter members.

Dr. Hoque joined the faculty of the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2018 as an assistant professor. She currently serves as the acting internship co-director for the School of Medicine and is a member of the faculty senate. Outside of her academic appointments, she practices medicine as the inaugural medical director of Bordley Tower at the SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. As a scholar, Dr. Hoque’s research interests include medial education, the impact of lifestyle on disease prevention, and quality improvement for cost-effective patient care.

Dr. Hoque received her medical degree from Dhaka University in Bangladesh.
