Frederick Community College in Maryland Has Chosen Annessa Cheek as Its Next President

Annesa Cheek has been selected to serve as the eleventh president of Frederick Community College in Maryland. She will begin her new job on July 1.

Frederick Community College enrolls more than 5,700 students according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 60 percent of the student body.

“I could not be more excited about my new role and the opportunity to hit the ground listening and learning about the college and its connections to support a vibrant workforce and regional economy,” Dr. Cheek said.

Dr. Cheek has served as president of St. Cloud Technical and Community College in Minnesota since 2018. From 2014 to 2018, she was vice president of school and community partnerships at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. She had been on the staff at that college since 2006.

Dr. Cheek is a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville, where she majored in business management. She earned an MBA from the University of Dayton and a doctorate in community college leadership from the University of Texas at Austin.
