Debbie G. Thomas has been appointed dean of the College of Education at Grambling State University in Louisiana. Most recently, she served briefly as vice chancellor for learning and instruction at Arkansas State University Mid-South. Prior to that, she served as provost and vice president of academic affairs at Kentucky State University.
Dr. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in communication studies from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She completed her doctorate in curriculum and instruction at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Lynette Luckers is the new dean of counseling and completion services at Delaware County Community College in Media, Pennsylvania. Her most recent position was acting department head of the counseling department at the Community College of Philadelphia.
Dr. Luckers earned a master’s degree in counseling from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in educational administration and leadership studies from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Tawana Parks was appointed the Martha A. Darling Dean of Students at Reed College in Portland. Oregon. She was the assistant dean of students at the University of California, Merced. Earlier, she served on the staff at the University of Michigan-Flint for more than two decades.
Parks is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she majored in physics. Parks holds master’s degrees in applied physics and science education.
Dr. Soufleris, a three-time alumna of the State University of New York System, has more than 35 years of higher education experience spanning student affairs, enrollment management, retention, and student success initiatives.
Most recently, Dr. Van Vlerah served as vice president for student success and institutional strategy at Manchester University in Indiana. She is slated to become the fifteenth president of Notre Dame of Maryland University on July 6.
Dr. Egan comes to her new role as president of Bennington College from Connecticut College, where she has been serving as the Fuller-Maathai Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectionality Studies, dean of the faculty, and chief academic officer.
Dr. Pfluger has spent the past year as Bakersfield College's interim president. She previously served as vice chancellor of educational services and student success at the Kern Community College District.
Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
