
A focus of Dr. McHugh’s work and teaching is pediatrics and early interventions. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she conducts research in pediatric neurodevelopment and issues related to vision and youth occupations.
Dr. McHugh has been at the University of South Dakota since 2012 and became a full-time faculty member in 2017. A graduate of the University of Iowa, with a degree in early childhood and special education, Dr. McHugh earned a master’s degree in occupational therapy at the University of South Dakota and a Ph.D. in occupational therapy at Texas Woman’s University.
