Rutgers University-Camden Chancellor to Lead the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia

Phoebe A. Haddon, chancellor of Rutgers University–Camden, has been named chair of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. She will lead the nine-member board for a two-year term. Chancellor Haddon will continue to fulfill all her duties at Rutgers University-Camden while serving as board chair.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s nine-member board of directors oversees bank operations, offers observations on economic conditions, establishes the bank’s discount rate, and is a link between the Federal Reserve and the communities in the Third District, which includes eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.

Haddon became chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden in July 2014. From 2009 to 2014, she was dean of the Carey School of Law at the University of Maryland. Before becoming dean in 2009, Haddon served on the faculty at the Beasley School of Law at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Chancellor Haddon is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and the Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh. She also holds a master’s degree in law from Yale Law School.
