Donna H. Oliver was appointed provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. She will serve as chief academic officer and chief operating officer at the college.
Edward Waters College is a private, historically Black college affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church. It enrolls nearly 3,500 students. Women make up 54 percent of the student body.
Dr. Oliver is the former president of Mississippi Valley State University. Earlier, she served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Edward Waters College and vice president for academic affairs at Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. Dr. Oliver has been a professor of education at Elon University in North Carolina.
Dr. Waters is a graduate of Elon University, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in educational administration from North Carolina A&T State University and a second master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in curriculum and teaching from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
