The University of Rhode Island has announced that 14 faculty members have been promoted to full professor. Seven of the 14 faculty members who were promoted to full professor are women.
Sue K. Adams is a new full professor of human development and family studies. She joined the faculty at the university in 2007. Dr. Adams is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where she majored in psychobiology. She earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
Mary Healey-Jamiel was appointed full professor of film/media and communication studies at the university. A documentary filmmaker, Professor Healey-Jamiel is a graduate of Rhode Island College and holds a master’s degree from Emerson College in Boston.
Zahra Meghani was named a full professor of philosophy. Her research is focused on ethics and feminist theory. Dr. Meghani is the editor of Women Migrant Worker: Ethical, Political and Legal Problems (Routledge, 2015). She holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
Angela Slitt was promoted to full professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island. She earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology and a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
Emi Uchida was appointed a full professor of environmental and natural resource economics. She is a graduate of Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. Professor Uchida earned a master’s degree in environmental management at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics at the University of California, Davis.
Annemarie Vaccaro was promoted to full professor of human development and family studies. She is the co-author of Centering Women of Color in Academic Counterspaces: A Critical Race Analysis of Teaching, Learning, and Classroom Dynamics (Lexington Books, 2016). Professor Vaccaro is a graduate of what is now Castleton University in Vermont. She holds a master’s degree in higher education student affairs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Denver.
Yinjiao Ye was named a full professor of communication studies. She joined the faculty at the University of Rhode Island in 2006. Professor Ye is a graduate of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. She earned a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Alabama.
