Mary Gallagher Appointed President of Los Angeles City College

Mary Gallagher was named president of Los Angeles City College in California. She has served as interim president since January 2018.

Los Angeles City College is a two-year community college that enrolls more than 17,000 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 56 percent of the student body.

Previously, Dr. Gallagher served as vice president of administrative services at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. She was acting president of the college for eight months. Earlier in her career, Dr. Gallagher was vice president of administrative services at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Dr. Gallagher is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, where she majored in business administration. She holds an MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and a Ph.D. in education from the Claremont Graduate University in California.
