Two Women Appointed to Provost Positions at State Universities

Felecia McInnis Nave was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at North Carolina Central University in Durham. She has been serving as a professor in the College of Engineering and as director of faculty development and engagement at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. From 2014 to 2017, she was provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Prairie View. Dr. Nave is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Mississippi, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a master’s degree in chemical and environmental engineering and a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Toledo in Ohio.
Sue Westbrook was chosen as the next provost and vice president for academic affairs at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. She has served as interim provost since January 5. Before being named interim provost, Dr. Westbrook served as dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health at the university. Dr. Westbrook earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. After working for three years as a nurse, she began teaching at Nicholls State University as an instructor of nursing. She later earned two master’s degrees at Nicholls State and a doctor of nursing science degree at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans.
