The Peace Corps has announced its annual listing of the colleges and universities that have the most graduates serving as volunteers in its ranks. For the second straight year, the University of Wisconsin held the top spot. It has 85 graduates working in the Peace Corps. The University of Washington, which held the top spot two years was ranked second and the University of Minnesota held third place. Since the inauguration of the Peace Corps in 1961, the University of California, Berkeley has sent 3,671 graduates to the Peace Corps, the most of any college or university.
In the Small Colleges and Universities category, for schools with less than 5,000 undergraduates, three women’s colleges made the list of the top producers of Peace Corps volunteers. Spelman College in Atlanta ranked in a tie for fourth place. Spelman College has 14 alumnae currently serving in the Peace Corps.
Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, currently has 13 graduates volunteering in the Peace Corps. This puts the college in a tie for tenth place in the Small Colleges and Universities category. Smith College in Northampton ranked in a tie for 16th place with 11 alumnae currently serving in the Peace Corps.
Wellesley College and Simmons College, two women’s colleges in Massachusetts, were on the list of the top producers of Peace Corps volunteers in 2017 but dropped off the list this year.
