Cady Short-Thompson Named Provost at Hope College in Holland, Michigan

The new provost at Hope CollegeThe board of trustees of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, has selected Cady Short-Thompson to be the educational institution’s next provost. The liberal arts college enrolls nearly 3,400 students and women make up 60 percent of the student body.

For the past seven years, Dr. Short-Thompson has been dean of Blue Ash College of the University of Cincinnati. The satellite campus in suburban Cincinnati enrolls about 5,000 students, primarily in two-year degree programs.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Short-Thompson served for 13 years on the communication department faculty at the University of Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication and a Ph.D. in political communication, all from the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
