New Assignments for Three Women Scholars at Major Universities

Ann Marie Stock, a professor of Hispanic studies and a professor of film and media studies at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, has been given the added responsibilities as vice provost for academic and faculty affairs, effective July 1. Professor Stock joined the faculty at the university in 1993.
Dr. Stock is a graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in comparative literature from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and a Ph.D. in cultural studies and comparative literature from the University of Minnesota.
A. Catherine Ross was appointed chair of the department of nutritional sciences at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Ross joined the faculty in the department 21 years ago and currently holds the Dorothy Foehr Huck Chair in Nutritional Sciences.
Professor Ross is a graduate of the University of California, Davis. She earned a master’s degree in nutrition and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Augusta Read Thomas, University Professor of Composition in Music at the University of Chicago, has been given the added duties as director of the Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition at the university.
Professor Thomas joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 2010. Earlier she taught at the University of Rochester and Northwestern University.
