New Administrative Posts for Seven Women at Colleges and Universities

kelly-brennanKelly Brennan was promoted to vice president for enrollment management at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She joined FIT in 2012 as the assistant vice president for enrollment management. Earlier, she was director of student services for the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Brennan holds a bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s degree in counseling and student development, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Alabama.

maureen-brodieMaureen Brodie was appointed director of the Office of the Omsbud at the University of California, San Francisco. She has been on the staff at the university since 2011 and has been serving as interim director of the Office of Omsbud for the past eight months.

Brodie is a Certified Organizational Omsbud Practitioner (CO-OP). Before joining the staff at the University of California, San Francisco, she held dispute resolution posts at the University of California, Davis.

jayme_pendergastJayme Pendergast was promoted to director of athletics at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. She came to the university in 2014 as director of athletics compliance and support and was promoted to assistant athletics director for academic support and senior woman administrator.

Pendergast is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she majored in exercise science. She holds a master’s degree in sports psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

hawthorneLee Hawthorne was appointed chief of staff in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was director of student life at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Dr. Hawthorne is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park.

arnoldMargaret Arnold was named associate provost at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. She was assistant dean for graduate academic and faculty affairs in the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University in Boston.

Dr. Arnold is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she majored in leisure management and tourism. She holds a master’s degree in recreation management from Florida State University and a Ph.D. in leisure studies from the University of Illinois.

keiserSue Keiser was promoted to chief of staff for the chancellor of the University of Mississippi. She had been serving as special assistant to the chancellor. Keiser has been on the staff at the university since 1998.

Keiser is a 1983 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she majored in English.

rankin_sonia_thmbSonia Rankin is the new acting director of university advising at the University of New Mexico. She has been serving as associate dean of University College. Also, she has lectured in the university’s Africana studies program.

Rankin is a graduate of Morgan State University in Baltimore, where she majored in computer science. She earned a law degree at the University of Illinois.
