Sweet Briar College, the women’s college in Virginia that planned to close last year before being financially rescued by alumnae, is getting an additional boost in its fundraising efforts with help from the Dave Matthews Band.
The band performed at Sweet Briar College on April 14, 1996. It is now releasing a recording of that acoustical outdoor concert that was held at the Sweet Briar College Dell. The recording, which has never been released before, includes songs and stories related to the crowd by Dave Matthews. One story related how the band’s mega hit “Crash into Me” was written on the Sweet Briar campus and was inspired by Matthews’ wife, who is an alumna of the college.
People who purchase the album may also buy a commemorative T-shirt commemorating the concert. All proceeds from the sale of the recording and T-shirts will be donated to Sweet Briar College. More information is available here.
