In Memoriam: Geralyn M. Jacobs, 1952-2016

Gera JacobsGera Jacobs, a professor in the department of curriculum and instruction in the School of Education at the University of South Dakota, died on June 22 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. She was 64 years old and had suffered from cancer.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Jacobs was a graduate of the University of Dayton. She earned a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from the University of South Dakota. She joined the staff at the university in 1993 and was named to the faculty in 1995.

Dr. Jacobs was a past president of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She was the author of three books on early childhood education.
