Sweet Briar College Adds Two Intercollegiate Sports

Sweet Briar CollegeJust about a year ago, Sweet Briar College, a liberal arts educational institution for women in Virginia, announced that it would close in August 2015. Alumnae of the liberal arts college stepped in and raised enough money to keep the college open. Earlier this month a WIAReport post noted that the college had received more than 1,000 applications for places in the Class of 2020. The college hopes to enroll at least 200 students in its first-year class that begins this fall.

Now Sweet Briar College has announced that it is adding two new varsity sports that will compete this fall. The college is adding cross country and golf to its intercollegiate sport offerings. The college currently has teams in swimming, tennis, softball, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey as well as a highly regarding equestrian program.
