In Memoriam: Patricia Baldwin Kilpatrick, 1927-2016

Pat KilpatrickPat Kilpatrick, who was associated with Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland for more than a half century died on March 3. She was 88 years old.

Kilpatrick was a native of Cleveland and attended Ohio Wesleyan University. She transferred to Flora Stone Mather College for Women at what is now Case Western Reserve University. Kilpatrick competed in four sports and graduated in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in history. She was accepted at the university’s law school but could not afford the tuition. Instead she earned a master’s degree in physical education.

After taking time off to raise a family, Kilpatrick returned to Case Western Reserve in 1962 as a faculty member in physical education. She then became a dean at the Mather College for Women and later secretary of the university. In 1987, Kilpatrick was the first woman to be named a vice president of Case Western Reserve University. She retired in 1992 but remained active in university life.
