Cynthia Azari Appointed President of Oxnard College in California

Cynthia Azari Appointed President of Oxnard CollegeCynthia Azari was named president of Oxnard College in California. The Oxnard campus is one of the branches of the Ventura County Community College District. Oxnard College enrolls 7,100 students in two-year degree programs. Women are 53 percent of the student body.

Dr. Azari has been serving as interim president at Fresno City College. She was president of Fresno City College form 2009 to 2011 and then served as president of Riverside City College in California. Earlier in her career, she was president of Butler County Community College in Pennsylvania.

A native of Austin, Texas, Dr. Azari graduated from what is now Huston-Tillotson University, a historically Black college in Austin, where she majored in history and government. Dr. Azari earned a master’s degree in educational administration from West Virginia University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University.
