A field of four candidates has been announced for the post of Dean of the University of Kansas Libraries. The four candidates have all visited campus recently for a series of interviews and public presentations. One of the four candidates is a woman.
Christine Avery is the senior director of Commonwealth Campus Libraries and Strategic Projects at Pennsylvania State University. She was promoted to this post earlier this year after serving since 2011 as director of Commonwealth Campus Libraries. Avery is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in applied social research from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and a master of library and information science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
