Five Women Granted Tenure at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania

bucknellBucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, has announced the granting of tenure to 11 faculty members. Five of the newly tenured faculty are women.

AllersKatelynKatelyn N. Allers teaches in the department of physics and astronomy. She has been on the faculty at Bucknell since 2009. Earlier, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Hawaii. Dr. Allers is a graduate of Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, where she majored in physics. She earned a Ph.D. in astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin.

CollierBethanyBethany J. Collier is an associate professor of music. Her research focuses on the music of Indonesia. She has served as president of the New York City-based Gamelan Dharma Swara and directs the Bucknell Gamelan Ensemble. Dr. Collier is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in musicology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

DongJiajiaJiaJia Dong is an associate professor of physics and astronomy. She joined the faculty at Bucknell in 2008 after teaching for three years at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Dong is a graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, where she double majored in English and physics. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physics from Virginia Tech.

MarinElizabethElizabeth Marin is an associate professor of biology. Her research is focused on nervous system development. Dr. Marin is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego. She earned a Ph.D. at Stanford University and did postdoctoral research at the University of Washington.

MastroliaStacyStacy Mastrolia is an associate professor of management at Bucknell. She teaches courses in accounting and financial management. Dr. Mastrolia is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey. She earned an MBA at Georgia State University in Atlanta and a Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee.

On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
