
Professor Urbano joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University in 1999. She served as associate dean for lifelong learning in the School of Nursing and as director of health for the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center. Before coming to Nashville, Dr. Urbano was director of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) training program at the University of Miami.
Professor Urbano held a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a Ph.D. in adult and continuing education from Florida State University. She also earned a master of public health degree at the University of North Carolina.
