Two Women Among Finalists for Vice Provost for Inclusion and Diversity at Virginia Tech

virginia-tech-logoVirginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg has announced a field of three candidates who will be considered for the post of vice provost for inclusion and diversity. The person selected will also hold the title as senior adviser to the president of the university. All three candidates will visit the Virginia Tech campus before the end of September for open forums and a presentation. Two of the three finalists are women.

prattclarkMenah Pratt-Clarke is the associate chancellor for strategic affairs and the associate provost for diversity at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. She is also an associate professor in the department of education policy at the university. Dr. Pratt-Clarke earned a master’s degree in English from the University of Iowa. She holds a second master’s degree in sociology, a Ph.D., and a law degree, all from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

christinetaylorG. Christine Taylor has served as vice provost for diversity and chief diversity officer at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Prior to assuming her duties at Purdue in 2009, Dr. Taylor served as associate vice president for institutional diversity at Miami University of Ohio. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and holds master’s and doctorate degrees from Ohio University.

On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
