Four Women Appointed to Dean Posts at College and Universities

AronsonMeigan C. Aronson will be the next dean of science at Texas A&M University. She has been serving as a professor of physics and astronomy at Stony Brook University in New York and as a physicist at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, operated by the U.S. Department of Energy. She will become dean of October 1.

Dr. Aronson is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, where she majored in physics. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois. Before joining the faculty at Stony Brook, she taught at the University of Michigan from 1990 to 2007.

Resurrection University Rebecca Zukowski PhD RNRebecca Zukowski was appointed dean of the College of Nursing at Resurrection University in Chicago. She was the associate academic dean and chair of the Division of Nursing at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pennsylvania.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Dr. Zukowski is a graduate of Carlow College in Pittsburgh. She earned a master’s degree in nursing at Marquette University in Milwaukee and a Ph.D. in administration and leadership studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

deanmitzimontoyaMitzi Montoya was named the Sara Hart Kimball Dean of the College of Business at Oregon State University. She has been serving as vice president and university dean of entrepreneurship and innovation at Arizona State University. Earlier in her career, Dr. Montoya held the Zeinak Chair in Marketing and Innovation in the College of Management at North Carolina State University.

Professor Montoya holds a bachelor’s degree in applied engineering science and a Ph.D. in marketing and statistics from Michigan State University.

cheryl_parksCheryl A. Parks was appointed dean of the School of Social Work at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She was dean of the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies at Salisbury University in Maryland.

Dean Parks holds a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College. She earned a master of social work degree at the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in social work from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
