Three Women Appointed to Named Chairs at the University of Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced the appointment of six faculty members to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation named professorships. Three of the six appointments went to women.

harackiewiczJudith H. Harackiewicz was appointed the Paul Pintrich Professor of Psychology. Her research is focused on achievement motivation in educational settings. She is the co-editor of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation: The Search for Optimal Motivation and Performance (Academic Press, 2000). Professor Harackiewicz holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Palmenberg_AAnn C. Palmenberg was named the Roland R. Rueckert Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Virology. Her research involves the examination of the structure and biochemistry of viruses with RNA genomes. Dr. Palmenberg is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

kirsten-faculty-listKristen Wolf is the new Kim Nilsson Professor of Scandinavian Studies. Her research focuses on Old Norse/Icelandic language and literature. She is the co-editor of Medieval Scandinavia: An Encyclopedia (Routledge, 1993). Professor Wolf joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin in 2001. A graduate of the University of Iceland, she holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from University College London.

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
