The First Woman Chancellor of the Florida College System

pumariegaMadeline M. Pumariega was appointed chancellor of the Florida College System. The system serves more than 800,000 students at 28 colleges throughout the state of Florida. When she takes office in September, Dr. Pumariega will be the first woman to have held the post.

Since 2013, Dr. Pumariega has been president and CEO of Take Stock in Children, a nonprofit organization that aims to increase educational opportunities for at-risk youth. Previously, she was president of the Wolfson campus of Miami Dade College.

Dr. Pumariega holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and a doctorate in community college leadership from Barry University in Miami.
