University of Toledo Has Announced the Appointment of Its First Woman President

7883 Provost Sharon GaberThe board of trustees of the University of Toledo in Ohio has named Sharon L. Gaber as the university’s 17th president. When she takes office, Dr. Gaber will the first women to serve as president of the University of Toledo

Currently, Dr. Gaber is provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas. Prior to accepting this position in 2009, Dr. Gaber was interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Auburn University in Alabama. Earlier in her career, she held the A. Leicester Hyde Endowed Chair in Community and Regional Planning at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dr. Gaber is a graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles, where she majored in economics and urban studies. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern California and a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from Cornell University.
