Two Women Are Finalists for Dean of the University of Colorado College of Media, Communication and Information

The University of Colorado at Boulder has announced five finalists for the post of dean of the College of Media, Communication and Information. All five candidates will be visiting the Boulder campus during early and mid-February for interviews and public forums. Two of the five finalists are women.
Lori Bergen is dean of the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before taking on that position in 2009, she was director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University. Dr. Bergen holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science and a master’s degree in journalism from Kansas State University. She earned a Ph.D. in mass communication from Indiana University in Bloomington.
Caroline Haythornwaite is a professor and director of the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia in Canada. She has served on the faculty at the university since 2010. Previously, she taught for 14 years at the University of Illinois. Dr. Haythornwaite is a graduate of Trent University in Ontario, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in psychology and information science and a Ph.D. in information science from the University of Toronto.
