In Memoriam: Anna Marie Zarate Porras, 1966-2015

porras_newsAnna Marie Porras, the senior associate director of development at Stanford University, died late last month at her home in Redwood City, California. She was 48 years old and had suffered from breast cancer.

Porras joined the staff at Stanford in 1991 as director of outreach to Mexican American students in the undergraduate admissions office. She later served as associate dean and acting dean of admissions. In 2005, she was named associate director of major gifts in the Office of Development. In 2015, Porras was honored with the Office of Development’s Distinguished Service Award.

Porras held a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in sociology from Stanford University.
