Three Women in New Faculty Roles at American Universities

Keisa MathisKeisa W. Mathis was named an assistant professor in the department of integrative physiology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. She was an assistant professor and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dr. Mathis is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she majored in physics. She earned a master’s degree in applied physics at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physiology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

gulerS. Ilgin Guler is a new assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at Pennsylvania State University. She was conducting postdoctoral research on public transportation in Zürich, Switzerland.

Dr. Guler is a graduate of Bogazici University in Turkey. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

mskurkMargaret Skurka was named Chancellor’s Professor at Indiana University Northwest in Gary. She is a professor and chair of the department of health information management at the university.

Professor Skurka joined the faculty at the university in 1978. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and holds a master’s degree in education from Purdue University.
