In Memoriam: Sarah Elizabeth McQuillen-Tran, 1979-2014

TranSarah McQuillen-Tran, an assistant professor at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, died of leukemia late last month. She was 34 years old.

A native of Leidschedam in The Netherlands, she attended schools in England, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and the United States. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and then entered the Peace Corps and served in West Africa. She then earned a law degree at Georgetown University and subsequently clerked for a U.S. Court of Appeals judge and worked at the Jones Day law firm.

McQuillen-Tran joined the faculty at Southern Methodist University in 2011. She specialized in intellectual property, regulatory, and environmental law.
