Kim Tanzer, the Edward E. Elson Professor and dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, announced that she will step down as dean at the end of her current term in June. Professor Tanzer will remain on the faculty at the University of Virginia.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Virginia in 2009, Professor Tanzer taught architecture at the University of Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her master of architecture degree from North Carolina State University.
Ann Dugan, executive director of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh, will leave her post during the first quarter of 2014. She will also step down as assistant dean of the university’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. Dugan founded the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence in 1993. Since its inception it has assisted in the start-up of 800 new businesses.
Dugan holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
